Bottle

Since January 2021, every single can, bottle and keg of Budweiser has been brewed with using 100% renewable electricity.*

How do we achieve this?

*The actual electricity used to brew Budweiser is not from 100% renewable sources, but Budweiser ensures that an equivalent amount of electricity is generated under renewable electricity agreements to offset the amount of non-renewable electricity used from the National Grid to power our brewing processes. The sources of renewable electricity are comprised of:

  1. A wind turbine directly connected to our brewery in Magor, Wales
  2. A 20-year Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (the VPPA) providing for operation of two solar panel farms, located at Grange in Nottinghamshire and South Lowfield in West Yorkshire, which generate more electricity than its breweries require.

The following table evidences AB InBev’s electricity consumption for years 2022 - 2023 and total renewable electricity generation by means of Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin.

The information relating to the renewable electricity generated via the VPPA is supported by REGO certificates. Therefore, some electricity used by AB InBev for its brewing is supplied by a utility provider via the national grid.

Budweiser is committed to investing in renewable infrastructure.

Our Brewery at Magor, South Wales has its own wind turbine as Budweiser is committed to investing in sustainable energy infrastructure. Installed in November 2020, the towering wind turbine blades reach a height of 150 metres and sweep an area equivalent to two Wembley pitches.

HITTING THE SCREEN IN A BIG WAY

Filmed at the Budweiser Thunder Ranch Wind Farm in Oklahoma, our TV advert brought a breath of fresh air to the 53rd Super Bowl by featuring one of Budweiser’s unsung mascots - the Dalmatian. Since 1950, they’ve kept our Budweiser Clydesdales company and have become somewhat inseparable ever since.
